GHANA BOLGATANGA BASKETS

African Market Baskets™ are strong, durable, colorful and entirely hand-made. Each basket is unique and beautiful. These baskets are made from river grass, known as “elephant grass” by local weavers in Bolgatanga, Ghana.

Baskets with leather handles are wrapped in goat skin for comfort and durability. The leather is naturally tanned using local seeds and red millet.

 African Market Baskets owner and founder formed a non-profit, to fund and guide their various humanitarian projects in Ghana. Whether it be signing up villagers for healthcare, providing school supplies and mosquito nets to those in need, or building a weaving center, all of their efforts aim to empower the weavers, their families, and the communities of Bolgatanga.
